Self Sustainability
Living more independently and sustainably offers numerous benefits to our Children’s Home. Some of the key advantages are cost savings on essentials like food, water, and energy and environmental conservation.

Biogas

With the help of our cows, we produce biogas. It is sufficient for cooking and lighting our homes. This sustainable energy source not only reduces our reliance on traditional fuels but also minimizes our carbon footprint. By harnessing the power of nature, we contribute to a greener future while improving the quality of life for our community.

Fresh daily milk

The community is provided with fresh milk every day from the cows. The surplus is sold for a cost price to families in the village.

Farmland

In walking distance, we have our own farmland where we grow potatoes and vegetables, and where the chickens live which provides us with eggs.

Solar Energy

With panels on the roof of our building, we produce enough electricity for our daily use.

Borehole

We are planning our own well of a corresponding depth, so that the community and also our neighbours are always supplied with water, regardless of drought and seasonal or climate-related weather changes.

However, achieving self-sustainability can be challenging and requires careful planning and the adaptation of new practices and costly technologies.
